After the surprise release of their debut album Down To Earth, Flight Facilities show no sign of slowing down. Despite the surprise, the album went to Number One on the iTunes Australia chart, Number One and Two on the US and UK iTunes electronic charts respectively and Number Three on the ARIA chart.
But they’re not content to sit back and rest on their laurels. 2014 and 2015 has seen the duo set off on a headline Australian National Tour, followed by a US and EU tour, then a headlining slot on the Laneway Festival and finally a bus tour around America. On returning home, they reworked their live set and were back on the road to headline the Groovin’ The Moo festival and Australian label Future Classic’s 10 year Anniversary Party at the Sydney Opera House before hitting the European Summer festival circuit for a couple of months, including a debut Glastonbury Festival performance. Returning from overseas, it was straight to Byron Bay for Splendour In The Grass, headlining the MixUp stage.
Between all that touring they managed to curate music videos for their singles Sunshine and Down To Earth, featuring Reggie Watts and Sam Rockwell respectively, bolstering their reputation for intriguing, charming videos.
In October 2015 Jimmy & Hugo took to the stage of the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne to join forces with the 90-piece Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and recreate the duo’s five-year journey in front of 12,000+ fans, which has just been released as a live album. The end of 2015 saw three ARIA Award nominations including ‘Album of the Year’, and a stellar live performance of ‘Crave You’ at the ARIA event with help from Owl Eyes.
2016 and beyond will see Flight Facilities hit the studio and work towards the creation of LP2, before joining the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in September at Sydney’s iconic The Domain for #FFxSSO in front of 15,000 hometown fans.
